Arachnids of Flower Hill Farm
Spiders weave beautiful webs. Silk nets that capture prey and water droplets creating beautiful death traps. I do admire this crafty arachnid but that does not endear them to me. Weaver most meticulous. I am like the bluebirds when it comes to being frightened by these scary critters, unless I have thick gloves and a hat on. How many times have I lost a pair of bluebirds and even Tree Swallows to a large, black, hairy spider with green eyes and turquoise fangs. More than twice I had to climb on a stool and reach into the nest box to squish an eight legged predator. The passerines would have none of it and just left. Luckily there were no nestlings or eggs in the box. I am in good company with these birds who seem to think arachnids are creepy too. And telling me that they rarely bite humans does not help.
