. . . for those longing to be close to nature. A vegetarian getaway surrounded by organic gardens, fields, and forest. Birds and butterflies abound in our wildlife sanctuary! Nature nurtures. Give yourself and those you love a special retreat.
Flower Hill Farm Retreat offers accommodations of rustic simplicity within a restored 1790 farmhouse and studio, situated on an east facing hillside fifteen minutes west of Northampton, Massachusetts. The perfect escape for those suffering from nature-deficit disorder. Exceptional views along with rambling organic gardens, wildflower and blueberry fields, and an enchanting forest surround the Flower Hill Farm Retreat and are home to a diverse wildlife habitat. Carol has sighted and documented here on this site, over seventy species of birds and over fifty species of butterflies from walks through Flower Hill Farm’s landscape. Many of the sightings and photographs taken happened while just looking out the windows.
For over seventeen years Carol has welcomed guests from around the world. The antique farmhouse is divided into two very private apartments. Our private and airy ‘writing studio’ is between the farmhouse and barn. All three spaces offer air-conditioning, WiFi, and can be private retreats for individuals, or, combined and rented as one house for larger groups or families. Flower Hill Farm has laundry facilities which are available on site by appointment. Please look over our RATES and POLICIES page for more information. We would love to welcome you to our little paradise. Any questions? Call 413-268-7481 or EMAIL – firstname.lastname@example.org
The downstairs apartment is the antique part of the house. These accommodations offer stunning views through an eastern wall of windows. Off of the living room is a queen bedroom and an additional very small double bedroom. A full bathroom includes a fiberglass bathtub and shower. A simple vegetarian kitchen holds adequate cookware and dishes. The living room fireplace works and may be used seasonally, only on approval, for an extra fee to help with cost of wood. Please ask about the fireplace if it is an important reason you are booking. Due to unforeseen weather we cannot promise ahead that it can be used. The Downstairs can be linked to the Studio (a convenience for larger parties) or be a completely private space.
We have added a dining room that is between the upstairs and downstairs apartments and becomes part of the rental when taking both apartments or the entire retreat. Small wedding receptions are welcome and rates depend on details. Rates and Policies
The upstairs apartment is more modern and offers cozy niches with expansive views. A private front door entrance leads guests up the stairs to their accommodations where chairs sit for easy removal of shoes. There is a bright vegetarian kitchen and dining nook, a small interesting library with seating area, a queen bedroom, and a single sofa-bed placed in an east facing dormer within a narrow room leading to a balcony. The full bathroom includes a fiberglass tub and shower. Rates and Policies
As you enter through a private front door entrance into the Writer’s Studio you take off your shoes and leave the outside world behind. A private, peaceful, and romantic accommodation. Also perfect for single retreats. The claw-foot tub is out in the room and has a wand but no stand-up shower. There is a ‘Berkeley Ergonomic’ organic queen bed and a small seating arrangement for light dining. The eastern view is beautiful offering sun and moon rises. Small trees in the terrace garden offer food for birds and butterflies, and beauty and privacy for studio guests.
There is a kettle for boiling water, small French press for coffee, and a small refrigerator, along with dishes and cutlery. The studio is not set up for cooking but fine for simple take-outs or picnic dining. A WC is within the closet under the hidden AC. Sorry, bath salts cannot be used. *We have removed the little desk and floor lamp for a more open and airy feeling and allow access to the large slider doors. Rates and Policies
We hope that you can visit Flower Hill Farm Retreat throughout the seasons. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter each offer unique experiences in nature.
